Serena was accepted to Brown University in Rhode Island, but Dawn Ostroff, President of Entertainment of The CW has promised to E! Online that Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage have “figured out a very clever way to keep them all in New York….” Serena ended up deferring her admission in order to search for her father. The third season began filming on June 29, 2009 in New York City. Joanna Garcia has signed on for a four episode-arc as the new love interest for Chace Crawford. Hilary Duff has also signed on for a seven episode-arc as Olivia Burke, a movie star who enrolls at NYU in search of a traditional college experience and ends up rooming with Vanessa (Jessica Szohr).
